How hard could it be to have a google maps-style web application, where the actual 3d shape of the landscape is captured. When walking, riding a bike, skiing, hiking, or planning trips to the mountains, information about differences in altitude would be seriously useful. All existing online maps I've seen are hopelessly flat. Even adding some elevation contour lines to these maps would help. Landscape data could be limited to smaller areas, such as ski resorts, natural parks, big cities and surroundings, etc.
