real-time site statistics/visualization [more ideas]

This idea is kind of obvious: Make a visualization similar to WikipediaVision or FlickrVision, but for any site. It would work best with sites that have many visitors (at least one every few seconds). It would show which part of the world the last visitor is from, what link he/she followed and possibly other information.

There exists a huge variety of site statistics, I just haven't seen any that is truly real-time and dynamic. The focus in this case is on visualization rather than on statistics.

After I made WikipediaVision, I got many requests for making such visualizations. Making a separate one for each case is too much work. Releasing the WPV source code wouldn't help much as it is quite specific to Wikipedia. I'm thinking of a pluggable visualization that anyone could easily tailor to his/her own site. I don't mind releasing the whole thing as open-source, I just couldn't come up with a suitable format yet. Suggestions are most welcome. The problem is how to make it really simple to integrate and simple (for me) to maintain.

Another possibility is to provide an open API, where people just need to copy-paste some javascript into their own site and get the whole visualization as a service. As I don't have the resources/time to maintain such a service, this is not really an option for me. If you are interested in making something like this and would like to collaborate with me, let me know. Also if something like this already exists, I'd be glad to find out.

In case you want a highly customized visualization for a larger site, I am available for temporary work on a contractual basis. In any cases, feel free to contact me.
